Self-Learning AI Transforms "Ignorance" into Knowledge

The Challenge

In the It sector, requirements and skills are constantly evolving. Knowledge graphs must, therefore, encompass all skills, old and new, to ensure an accurate match between service buyers and providers. This is evidently a major challenge in our rapidly developing world, namely identifying those skills that the knowledge graph does not yet recognize. How can one know what they do not know? And how can this “Ignorance” be transformed into knowledge?

Not only is it a challenge to keep up with the genesis of skills. But also, to recognize all possible skills, including new ones in all languages. How does one recognize a new skill in a foreign language?

There must be a solution to these challenges. One that enables innovative service providers to be discovered by service buyers. This solution would also help service buyers who require newer, innovative skills to find suitable service buyers more efficiently.

Could this solution involve a manual process of updating every new record of a skill or requirement in every possible language? Indeed not, this effort would be incredibly inefficient with a huge demand of time.  Manual solutions put both, service providers and buyers at a disadvantage.

The Solution – A Self-Learning Knowledge Graph

To address this problem, we are launching the project:  DynamiC ("Dynamic Completion of Knowledge-Graphs“)!

Our AI, DynamiC, recognizes, categorizes, and integrates new skills and their synonyms into the knowledge graph as soon as it encounters a skill for the very first time. We built a self-learning system, so that, in the future, there will be no skills that we no not know!

This occurs in four steps: recognizing unknown skills, checking if it is a synonym of an already known skill, identifying terms in other languages, and finally conducting a semantic analysis, in which a new skill is placed in the correct relationship based on its semantic proximity or distance to different terms.

We received the  2021 AI Innovation Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the State of Baden-Württemberg for our innovative solution.

New Perspectives

With this solution, our platform will learn in real time as the knowledge of our members grows. We offer service providers and service buyers a better way to find one another with more precise matching. Innovative skills are immediately recognized, allowing service providers to fully leverage their potential. In addition, Service buyers will be able to access the latest services and skills offered.

Our self-learning system is capable of accessing several languages and new areas of knowledge, allowing us to reach new markets and publish tenders beyond German-speaking regions.
